Father Ted reminded us on Sunday that Easter is a Season within the church. Anyone want to share a Joy with us? Here's an image that gladens my heart. My granddaughter put all the "babies" down for a nap on the sofa during her last visit.

When something happens to a friend or a neighbor, there are times when you feel at a loss. Are they hurting too much for a call or company? It can be agonizing not knowing what to do. I recently had a relative in Critical Care and I couldn't visit. Texting turned out to be the best thing to reach them. Go figure, right? But most situations aren't so restricted. Cards are always in style. Food is welcome, even if folks say they don't need anything (make sure there are no dietary restrictions!). Or a visit, but be sure to go with your listening ears on. Often times, people in stressful situations need to share what they are going through. And last, but by no means least, offer the power of human touch: a gentle squeeze on the hand or a hug if they're receptive.

Value $65,000 To fund remodel our new parish hall. So we can facilitate a growing church and to offer a place of education and refuge to the community. At the direction of Bishop Stephen Elliot, a group of planters and other citizens of McIntosh County organized a mission congregation under the name St. Peter's Church, Darien in 1841. A year later, the name of the congregation was changed to St. Andrew's and the congregation was admitted as a parish in the diocese in 1843. The first church building was completed in 1844. The Civil War was not kind to Darien or St. Andrew's. From 1862 to 1866, the parish was abandoned. In 1863, Union troops, including the 54th Massachusetts under the command of Colonel Robert Shaw, burned Darien. After the war, Mrs. Shaw and some of her friends sent money to assist in the rebuilding of St. Andrew's. Although those funds were in fact used to construct a church at the Ridge, members of the parish eventually raised the funds to buy the lot where the Bank of Darien had previously stood and to construct the present St. Andrew's church building. The building was completed and consecrated in 1879. One of the most photographed buildings in Darien, St. Andrew's looks out on Vernon Square. We heard the creation story from Genesis at St Andrew's and St. Cyprian's yesterday. Every day of the week was filled with purposeful intention, even Sunday which was the day God rested. In this season of Pentecost, may the Holy Spirit rest upon us.
